Sandburg – Meet Summary – 4/24/13 – Cool – light wind early, but perfect later in the evening.
Your Trojan track athletes had a very solid night at the Pete Struck Eagle Classic on Thursday night. The team managed to finish in 4th place with a total of 60 points out of 16 teams. Some of the key performances were:
· 6th – 3200m – Marc Mathy – 10:07.88
· 6th – Disc – Marckus Simmons – 130’1”
· 4th – High Jump – Steve Kanis – 5’10”
· 4th – Shot Put – Nick Stiechman – 48’4”
· 4th - 4x800m – 8:28.75 – Ryan Zemel (2:01.5), Andrew Noll (2:05.0), James Diamond (2:10.9), and Andrew Masciopinto (2:10.8).
· 4th – 1600m – Tony Zea – 4:23.81
· 3rd – Disc – Nick Janicki – 155’8” – state qualifying mark is 155’0” – he is well on his way of punching his ticket to Charleston for the State Meet.
· 1st – 3200m – Ben Eaton – 9:29.62 – won this event by 10 seconds. Currently the 20th fastest time in the state for outdoor.
· 1st – 1600m – Zack Smith – 4:13.23 – currently 3rd fastest time in the state.
The markee event of the night was the 1600m run! Jack Diamond sacrificed his own race to ensure a fast race for Tony Zea and Zack Smith. Tony and Zack both had PRs and Zack’s time but him in the top 3 in the state and the top 20 in the nation.
