Stagg Sophomore Invite
Saturday, April 14 2012 - A.A. Stagg Sophomore InviteCongratulations to the F/S Boys today on an outstanding meet! The Trojans we able to beat a very talented Carl Sandburg group by 1 point. Every point the Trojans scored today was critical to the victory! The young Trojans managed to score in every event that had a DGN athlete in it.
The field events got this meet started right! The shot put was dominated by the Nick & Nick tandem, both PR'ed today with a 44ft 7in throw for Janicki and a 41ft 1in throw for Stiechmann. Then the disc ring was a launching pad for Brian Grippando and Nick Janicki as brian placed 2nd with a PR throw of 116ft and 10inches and Nick threw 137ft 10in PR. Then over at the runway Kenny Yeo was able to place well in the competitive field of both the long and triple jump, with a 17-10 and 39-02.5 respectively. Andrew Adams also posted a PR of 37-7 in the triple.
The track was also kind to the trojan youngster today. Jazz looked very impressive today as he won the 100m in sub 11 seconds for the first time and when he pulled away from the field coming out of the turn in the 200m. I was also very impressed with the toughness that was demonstrated by Jared Spilky by doubling in the 2 mile and running the mile in the DMR while feeling under the weather. Also, Marc Mathy gutted out a 4:50.0 mile today and a 3rd place finish with a fierce kick. Also, the 4x400m relay of Kyron Blecher, Matt Metzler, Kenny Yeo, and Joe Carter came together when the trojans needed to score at least two points to fend off the Eagles of Carl Sandburg. Going into the final event the trojans lead by 9 and needed a solid effort that the 4x4 delievered. Sandburg did all they could by winning the 4x400m but the 5th place finish by the Trojans was enough to give the Trojans the victory. Check out the complete database results!
